WHAT IS EXPERTPOP?

ExpertPOP (Expert Point-Of-Presence) Home Inspector Edition is a tool that allows you to ask and inquire about issues related to the systems and structure of your residential property. ExpertPOP is a convenient way for you to pose your questions directly to your local Home Inspection expert about topics related to inspections, home maintenance, and home safety. All comments are emailed directly to the represented inspector, and replies are posted in ExpertPOP for the benefit of all home and property owners.

POSTING IMAGES TO EXPERTPOP

You may also link to photos and YouTube® videos here that are posted online. DO NOT post more than one or two photos per property. All photos must be hosted on the World Wide Web and be directly accessible via a Web address (Ex: www.mylisting.com/house01.jpg). Photos must be NO WIDER THAN 471 pixels at 96dpi maximum print resolution. YouTube® videos must be hosted on YouTube® using a screen width of 425 pixels (which is YouTube's default).

Showing Photos: If you wish to add a photo to your post, you should consider using PicResize.com. This online utility allows you to upload a large image, resize it online to the proper width and resolution, then have it hosted for free so that you can display it within ExpertPOP. Here's how it works:

STEP 1: Go to PicResize.com and click on the "BROWSE" button to search your hard drive, CD, or digital camera for the image you want to show. When you have selected your images, click the "CONTINUE" button.

STEP 2: Once you image has loaded, you will need to select the "CUSTOM SIZE" option. Enter a number no bigger than 471 (which represents the width, in pixels, that your image will appear in the widget). Choose "PIXELS" in the drop-down menu (as opposed to "PERCENT"). You may also add visual effects to your image, but this is not necessary. Finally, scroll to the bottom of your screen and choose the "JPG" file format option, then click the "RESIZE PIC!" button.

STEP 3: After you have successfully loaded and resized your image, you will need to save it to the World Wide Web since you cannot load images directly onto the IntenseDebate servers (or our servers). Thankfully, PicResize.com will host your images for free. Simply select the "SAVE TO WEB" option. You will need to enter your email address so that an email can be sent to you with a link to your stored image.

STEP 4: Once you've clicked on the link in your email to view your resized image online, you will need to "approve" your image so that it stays stored on the server. The direct link address to your resized image will also appear on the screen. DO NOT FORGET THIS LINK ADDRESS! (We suggest creating a bookmarks folder in your browser or your images.) Now, right-click on your image to open the image-options dialog box. Select "VIEW IMAGE" from the menu. This will show only the image without the Website "wrapper".

STEP 5: After clicking "VIEW IMAGE" from the image-options dialog box, you will need to look in the address bar of your browser for the direct image address. (It should end in '.jpg' if you chose the .JPG file format option in Step 2.) This address is the direct address to your image. You will need copy this address to your virtual clipboard (highlight, then CTRL+C).

STEP 6: Finally, go to the widget page (using the tabs above) where you want to insert your listing. In order to make your image appear in your post, you must write the syntax as follows:

<img src="http://my.picresize.com/vault/UHEA5UO4IN.jpg">

(Make sure YOUR image link address is the one appears. FYI: 'img' is HTML shorthand for "image". 'src' is HTML shorthand for "source".
